Born out of his own challenge overcoming debilitating pain from a car accident, as a former ER doctor and now self-proclaimed “ex-Card-Carrying Member of the Medical Orthodoxy”, Mike Bauerschmidt MD immersed himself in Functional Medicine because he found that it worked for him where everything else traditional medicine offered had failed. He founded Full Potential Healthcare in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, a successful Functional Medicine clinic. Working with hundreds of patients he realized that more and more patients were struggling with chronic conditions that wouldn’t resolve or would get better and then recur until they removed the environmental toxicants that were keeping them from healing. Committed to pursuing the root cause of illness he dreamed of creating a place where patients could experience total healing no matter where they were in the spectrum of dis-ease. Now through Sweetgrass Healing he can help patients recover from hormone issues to a complete, effective depuration (medical cleansing) program to set them on the road back to health. At Sweetgrass Healing you can expect assistance for anything from menopause/andropause or weight loss to chronic fatigue and more serious issues like Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, Ulcerative colitis/Crohn’s disease, arthritis and other auto immune diseases.

Dr. Mike is a member of and Certified in Chelation Therapy by the American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM). After serving on ACAM’s Board of Directors, he is now proud to be ACAM’s President. He has also completed advanced training in Environmental Medicine with Dr. Walter Crinnion as well as advanced clinical training at The Riordan Clinic, known as pioneers in IV nutrition therapies.

Dr. Bauerschmidt’s philosophy of treating the whole person and understanding the root cause of illness is supported by his training as a Life Coach, through the Coaches Training Institute and Certified by the Physician Coaching Institute. A passionate advocate for cancer prevention as well as the importance of emotional recovery, Dr. Bauerschmidt co-developed “What’s Next for My Life”, a workshop for cancer survivors.

Dr. Bauerschmidt received his medical degree from Ohio State University. He completed his residency in Family Practice at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro and is board certified in Emergency Medicine.
